USATF Youth Hammer Fund
About the USATF Youth Hammer Throw Fund
The USATF Youth Hammer Throw Fund was started by Harold Connolly in 2005 and has since awarded over $24,000 to 52 young boys and girls under 18 years of age.
Awards are determined annually by a three-person selection committee’s review of the applicants’ three-page application form which requires training and competitive statistical information, a brief essay describing his/her hammer throwing goals, and a letter of support from the applicant’s coach/parent.
For the 2009 season 14 girls and 8 boys applied for training grant assistance. Seven girls and seven boys were awarded training grants totaling $6,300.
Application information for 2012 can be found here.
